Olivia’s client has beautiful textured hair – but old, grown-out highlights weren’t doing her any favors. Olivia’s seamless, melty fix using Blonde Life Powder Lightener and the rich depth of LumiShine, created a blended, low-maintenance option that can be worn naturally or styled into the polished curl look you see here.

Olivia’s favorite pro tricks to achieve this look

When you’re working on Babylights, be sure to weave out the lowlights and foil them separately so they become perfectly saturated. Having them separated also allows you to go back in and re-saturate them for optimal lift.

Create a softer line of demarcation by teasing hair sections before foiling. It creates a natural edge and avoids harsh grow-out.

To double-down on counteracting unwanted yellow tones hair ends, Olivia added SB (silver blue) to her toner.

All over Tone: LumiShine Demi-Permanent Liquid Color 9V (2 Parts) + 9SB (1 Part) with 5 Volume LumiShine Developer ⁣

Post Treatment: Defy Damage ProSeries 2: Bond-Strengthening Color Treatment

The step by steps

Step 1: Apply Joico Defy Damage ProSeries 1: Bond-Protecting Color Optimizer Spray to hair in short bursts.

Step 2: Babylight the hairline by starting with the front, creating fine weaves, and apply Blonde Life Lightening Powder with 10 Volume LumiShine Developer. Be sure to weave out any low lights.

Step 3: Continuing to the back, tease and weave the hair, applying Joico Blonde Life Lightener. Be sure to fully saturate the hair and pull the lightener through to the ends of the hair.

Step 4: Rinse and shampoo with Joico KPAK Color Therapy Shampoo.

Step 5: Apply the Root Melt in a teardrop formation with LumiShine Demi-Permanent Liquid Color 6NV with 5 Volume LumiShine Developer. (This allows you to see the nice pop in the front, but melt the hair in the back.) Comb through for even distribution.

Step 6: To get rid of the unwanted yellow/orange warmth, Olivia tones the hair with an all over toner LumiShine Demi-Permanent Liquid Color 9V (2 Parts) + 9SB (1 Part) with 5 Volume LumiShine Developer.

Step 7: Rinse and finish with Defy Damage ProSeries 2: Bond-Strengthening Color Treatment
