How To Go Gaga This Halloween…

Joico Celebrity Guest Artist – and Gaga’s mane man – Frederic Aspiras nailed iconic look after look for every red carpet, award show, and appearance on the singer’s calendar this year. And each time, he gave us the scoop on how to pull off her one-of-a-kind style. Here’s your head-to-toe guide for costume inspiration.

LOOK #1: GAGA GO-LIGHTLY

When her diamond debutante is calling to you…

The hairstyle: A perfect 2019 take on Audrey Hepburn’s charming character in the film, Breakfast At Tiffany’s, this classic updo has a beautiful softness around the face. To mimic the style, swoop hair into two ponytails – one at the crown and one at the back of the head. Fashion each into a bun-like curl, securing with bobby pins. Leave out a section of bangs or face-framing hair to gather into a side swoop at the forehead and pin into place.

The products: Prep hair with Defy Damage Protective Shampoo and Defy Damage Protective Masque. After drying, apply 1 – 2 drops of Blonde Life Brilliant Glow Brightening Oil for extra sheen.

The makeup: Other than the requisite strong brow, keep makeup pale and pretty, with dewy foundation; a pale-blue wash of shadow on lids; rosy blush; and a pretty-in-pink lip like this one here

The outfit: Pull out that black strapless gown and the chunkiest neck bling you can get your hands on, and you’ll be good to go.

LOOK #2: “THE GLAMP”

When you want to mimic that Met Gala Moment…

The hairstyle: After drying hair with ends rolled under, use a curling iron to add gentle waves throughout. Next, pull out individual small sections of hair and fashion each into a bow shape by twisting ends underneath each other; secure the center of each “bow” with a clear mini elastic.

The products: Use JoiGel Firm on each bow section to create structure; and add holding power with Flip Turn Finishing Spray.

The makeup: It’s all about the lashes and lips here. Get the largest, most outrageous faux gold lashes you can find try Smiffy’s Eyelashes on Amazon; then carefully outline and fill your lips with an intense shade of fuchsia – the brighter the better.

The outfit: Considering that Gaga’s memorable Met Gala outfit involved 15 minutes and a series of strip-teases down to bra and panties, the choice is yours. But a hot-magenta strapless dress over a black bra (straps showing) would do the trick.

LOOK #3: HOLLYWOOD STARLET

When you want Gaga’s full-blown gothic angel vibes…

The hairstyle: Create this timeless ballerina bun by fashioning a sleek, low chignon with a twist, or bobby-pinned ponytail. Add a flirty finger-wave in front, making sure to tuck hair around the ears.

The products: Apply 2 – 3 drops of Defy Damage Protective Shield to towel-dried hair for a perfect, sleek, protected comb-through. After blow-drying and creating your chignon, finish with Flip Turn Volumizing Finishing Spray.

The makeup: Start with a deep cabernet lip (and oval-tip nails to match); add the requisite strong brow; then go for the gold with an allover shimmer powder and bronze-y contour.

The outfit: An ethereal white gown is perfect here. Whip out your hot-glue gun or fashion tape to attach delicate ivory feathers to the shoulder straps and waistband for Gaga flourish. Add a gold choker and gold clip-on earrings.

LOOK #4: BLUE-BLOOD ROYALTY

When you’re dying to dupe Gaga’s get-up from the Golden Globes…

The hairstyle: This Cinderella updo features a bow-like structure to highlight the beautiful blue tones that dance throughout Gaga’s icy-blonde strands. For a fashionable facsimile, gather hair into a smooth, high ponytail; lift upward and loop ends up and under, securing the “bow” with bobby pins.

The product: Apply Body Shake Texturizing Finisher for texture and structure that holds your updo in place.

The makeup: Rock a strong brow; cerulean-blue shadow; false lashes; a peachy shimmer lipstick like this…and grab a black liner pencil to create Gaga’s iconic beauty mark .

The outfit: Time to scour thrift-store prom racks for periwinkle satin…the bigger the gown, the better. A sparkling necklace that dips into the décolleté, and clip-on “diamond” earrings finish the look.

LOOK #5: CONTRAST QUEEN

When you want to conjure up Gaga’s spiciest ice…

The hairstyle: To recreate Gaga’s faux tousled bob, comb hair back sleekly; then curl the ends of hair up into a tight roll. Secure with bobby pins if necessary.

The products: For blondes apply Beach Shake Texturizing Finisher for grip and hold prior to curling; hold the flipped curls in place with JoiMist Firm Finishing Spray.

The makeup: Opt for a striking counterpoint by starting with pale foundation and setting powder to create the canvas. Add dark brows, intensely lined and lashed smoky eyes; and a full-on burgundy lip which you can create using these and don’t forget the beauty mark – it’s extra-accentuated here.

The outfit: A dress would be best, but a black halter vest worn solo with black pants would work in a pinch. Temp tattoos on the inner arms are mandatory.

LOOK #6: SILVER FLASH

When you want to test Gaga’s metal…

The hairstyle: Inspired by Gaga’s character, “Ally,” from the hit remake, A Star Is Born, aim for a lived-in look with lots of texture and messy waves. For true authenticity, alternate the direction of your curling iron (even use two different barrel sizes), focusing the bend on the mid-shaft to ends.

The products: Protect hair with Defy Damage Shampoo and Conditioner.

The makeup: Go for a golden glow with shimmery bronzer at the forehead, cheeks, and shoulders. Darken brows and create a smoky eye (bringing liner out and up to form a winged appearance). Finish with metallic, peachy-pink lips which you can find here.

The outfit: Strapless silver sequins will be your calling card here. And a big bling necklace, of course.

LOOK #7: PRIDE-TYED

When you want a million reasons to win that Best Costume Award…

The hairstyle: Undone, wild, and wonderful – with bangs to boot. Blow-dry hair as usual, then add messy waves using a curling or flat iron, alternating directions each time.

The products: Apply Body Shake Texturizing Finisher all over freshly-dried hair, turning head upside for maximum “messy” volume. Scrunch and tease until you get the Gaga effect. Smooth slightly with a flat brush; then finish with Design Works Shaping Spray.

The makeup: Start with a spray tan, then segue to vibrant orange lips (outlining the bow of the top lip for an extra-wide appearance). No worries about eye-makeup here, thanks to a giant pair of black, Ray Ban-like shades.

The outfit: Head over to ladygaga.com for a large, black logo-shirt…worn over black fish tights and tall black moto boots.
