“My client had a couple months of a grown-out balayage look and was ready to get back to her brunette roots – but with some fun,” explains Jill, who wanted to keep the color dimensional, but bring her back to two levels from her natural color. The inspo? Her client’s gorgeous eye color, which became Jill’s guide for creating the highs and lows in this updated shade. “The reflection of browns in her eyes made the perfect palette,” says Jill. Tips & tricks to create this look
– Create a full lowlight pattern, but make sure to add pops of brightness around the face.
– Leave foils long to avoid splotchiness and uneven application.
– Follow up with a root shadow and allover tone for the perfect blend.
– Be patient when waiting for your toner to process. “Let it sit and work its magic,” urges Jill.
