Navigating that fine line…
“One of the biggest complaints I hear from new brunette clients is that their former hairstylists always made them blonde. This tone hit the mark for my client, Angela, who wanted a lighter version of her lived-in caramel while still remaining brunette,” says Melissa.
Melissa’s pro tips when creating this look…

“One of the biggest complaints I hear from new brunette clients is that their former hairstylists always made them blonde. This tone hit the mark for my client, Angela, who wanted a lighter version of her lived-in caramel while still remaining brunette,” says Melissa.
Keep the depth: “The key to achieving a lighter look while staying brunette is to leave lots of depth under the crown, under the mohawk, and between foils.”
Switch up your levels: “Lightening to a level 8 and toning at a level 7 gives richness with brass while still having noticeable contrast.”
Create “pops” of interest: “Placing two foils at the back hairline help to give a pop when her hair is pushed forward, as well as when it is pulled up.”
