First came Look #1:

A huge, parachute-like fuchsia dress with a train that covered the entire staircase, fluttering up and down in the breeze.

Next up was Look #2:

Off came the cloak to reveal a black gown with a glam side bustle.

Look #3 then appeared:

A hot-pink strapless column dress with a comically enormous mobile phone.

And finally, Look #4:

Gaga stripped down to her undergarments, pulling a wagon-load of bubbly behind her. It was Camp. It was totally Gaga. And it had the perfect hair to match.

What: The Met Gala

Why: An annual fundraising event to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in NYC.

Who: Lady Gaga

How: With the genius of Frederic Aspiras, and his favorite Joico products

When this year’s Met Gala theme, “Camp,” was revealed, more than a few people were undoubtedly scratching their heads – trying to envision khaki and camouflage on the red carpet. But this was something different. “The hallmark of Camp is the spirit of extravagance,” wrote author Susan Sontag in her 1964 essay, Notes on Camp – the inspiration for this year’s fashion bash (which set guests back $35,000 a plate). And no one better exemplifies extravagance than the party’s co-host, Gaga.

Knowing that his long-time client was going to do a magic-act-of-an-entrance, Frederic created a self-described iconic hair look that epitomizes the spirit of Camp style.
“I decided to deconstruct the Bob and hair bow, and give the look a new rippled wave shape, making multiple mini hair bows throughout the hair.”
The fun didn’t stop there. Gaga’s “strip tease” – a full 15-minute performance – was likened to the unveiling of a Russian doll, one look under another. Her entourage played their campy parts perfectly; with Frederic animatedly touching up Gaga’s hair right there on the carpet with Joico Power Spray.

Here’s how Frederic made it happen:

– Apply Joico Defy Damage Protective Shield to damp hair; comb through for even distribution and protection.

– With a GHD curved flat iron, create very defined, uniform waves all around hair. Curl ends under for the rippled bubble effect.

– Apply Joico Joi Gel Firm to make mini hair bows throughout crown of head. Secure each with bobby pins.

– Comb out and smooth with two pumps of Joico Blonde Life Brilliant Glow Brightening Oil. Spray with Joico Joi Shape and Flip Turn Finishing Spray to mold and hold the look in place.
