The back story:
“I called this look “Pick Me Up” because it gives you that feeling when you look in the mirror – like you got a full refresh of highlights in half the time and at half the price. Even better, it picks up grown-out highlights and brings them back to life. Although the technique is technically just a partial, the highlights at the very back fall to the back of the head, which gives the impression of a full transformation. And we surface-paint and Balayage all over the head as well.”

The ideal client:
“This look works for blondes or brunettes – it all depends how light you want to lift the lightener, and which tone you use. This particular client had virgin hair, so I gave her a sun-kissed look.”

Stumbling blocks:
“With my client’s virgin hair, there were zero challenges to getting the tone I wanted.”

“As long as you leave the natural base, this can be an extremely low-maintenance look. I would recommend coming in for a glaze every three months for a refresh on the tone.”
