Sarah’s story…

Sarah’s had her eye on the prize since she was a freshman in high school. “I went to a vocational school, as I knew from a very young age that hair was my calling,” she explains. Now, some 20 years after receiving her license, she looks back with zero regret — and the same passion that ignited her career path in those early years. “I can say with all honesty that my passion burns even brighter for this industry than it did 20 years ago. Especially now that I’ve begun educating others. Knowing that I’ve encouraged, inspired, or taught someone something that can make their life easier melts my heart every time. I look at every stylist as a peer and I believe it’s super important that we support one another.”

Sarah’s favorite social media tip…

“Most of my clientele find me from my Instagram. Your bio is searchable, so when people type in “Massachusetts Balayage,” my name pops up! Make sure your “niche” is right after your name.”

Her calling card…

“I’m best known for my Balayage and blondes. And I love dimensional color. There’s nothing more satisfying than a blend!”

About those OneShot nominations…

“This year, I was nominated “Top 100” in six different categories: Blondes, Balayage, Brunettes, Educational Post, Color Video, and Styling Video. I couldn’t have been more pleased that my Educational Post also got me the Top 25 nomination! This is where my passion truly lies.”

Want to get your photos noticed? Take Sarah’s advice…

“Getting your photos noticed is really about the presentation. Of course, the hair has to be good; but the photography is just as important. Being a stylist today also goes hand in hand with learning how to showcase your work through clean clear photos.”

“Being a finalist in the biggest hair competition in the world is unreal!” – Sarah Cabral

Her typical schedule…

“I work four days a week in the salon. I also spend one-to-two hours a night editing my content. I love education and try to go to classes as much as possible.”

Goals…

“There’s always the goal of winning a OneShot Hair award! But the opportunities are endless in this business. I would love to teach a lot more and see where that path leads me.”

On a personal note…

“Something I believe that is important to share is that I actually have MS. It’s very well maintained; but as a future goal, I would love to work fewer hours behind the chair and really spend more of my energy educating — whether it be behind the camera, or in- person classes. There’s nothing like meeting students face to face. I feel blessed to do what I love, and I never take that for granted.”

Favorite professional moment…

“When I taught my first class all by myself and actually got amazing feedback. It was so scary to step out of my comfort zone, but I did it! It still blows my mind when people tell me that I actually taught them something.”

Ride-or-die product…

“I love the Joico Blonde Life Lightening Powder with the Coconut Oil Developer. I love the lift and quality of the hair afterwards — especially because a lot of my brunette clients are wanting to go blonde. I also love the Defy Damage line, which also keeps my blondes super healthy.”
