The New Year’s Eve countdown begins on December 31st; and now’s the time to lock in a look that will take you through the big night in style. Fortunately, Joico Artistic Educator, Katie Alm’s got three easy ‘dos for you that check all the boxes — they’re sexy, glam, and most importantly, fast!

DAZZLER #1: “CLAW” YOUR WAY TO THE TOP

An elevated claw clip goes way beyond functional in this super cinchy updo that showcases a beautiful neck and sexy bangs.

How to do the ‘do…

• Prep hair with Heat Hero to protect strands from the damaging effects of thermal styling.
• Using a one-inch barrel iron, add curls (curling in both directions for extra volume).
• Set hair with JoiMist Medium, and apply an additional hit of Flip Turn Volumizing Finishing Spray at the base of the nape for extra hold.
• Rake curls with fingers to loosen.
• Section out the bangs, then pull hair back and twist. Secure with an embellished claw clip. (Katie loves ones bedecked with pearls.)
• Tease any hair that’s left out of the clip, then bobby pin into place, fluffing where needed.
• Give one more shot of JoiMist Medium, smooth bangs, and out the door you go!

DAZZLER #2: THE READY STEADY CLIP

Blingy barrettes are everything these days – and this look doubles up with two fab clips that frame the face. (Bonus: It’s so easy, you can pull it off in minutes for a holiday party right after work, says Katie.)

How to do the ‘do…

• Section your hair from the crown of the head to behind the ear on both sides.
• Using JoiMist Medium and a comb, slick hair straight back and secure discreetly with bobby pins.
• Place a clip on either side.
• Pull both sides together in back with an invisible elastic, and gather up into a claw clip for hold and flourish. (Let hair cascade down over the clip for extra drama.)

DAZZLER #3: QUEEN OF DIAMONDS

Ready to get crafty and bedazzle everyone in the room? This crown of rhinestones lets you create the perfect, customized look.

How to do the ‘do…

• Split (longer) bangs or front sections of hair from either side of your part and create two tiny ponytails – 90s style. Secure them with mini elastics.
• On the flat, front section of hair, place stick-on rhinestones from the craft-supply store in any pattern you like – Katie loves to fashion a pointed halo right above the forehead.
• Apply more JoiMist Medium right over the rhinestones for extra hold; and get ready to party! (Pro tip: If you want even more secure bling, add eyelash glue to the underside of each rhinestone.)
