SPOTLIGHT ON: MONIKA LOMBARDI

JOICO GUEST ARTIST, WINDSOR ONTARIO, CANADA
Take a peek at the work of this self-described “boss girl” (she’s the owner/operator of Moni Hair Boutique in Windsor Ontario), and you’ll instantly see artistry brought to life. With an uncanny knack for gutsy color and precision haircuts, Monika Lombardi has made a name for herself across Canada… forging a career that’s as much about creativity as it is about savvy business strategy and education. Here, she gives us an inside glimpse of her world…
Bragging rights: I won “Most Dedicated” at the 2018 Guest Artist Excellence Awards.
On my nightstand: An essential oils diffuser.
Can’t live without: Hot water for a morning shower!
What I’m eating when no one’s looking: Pepperoni sticks.
If any designer (or store) could dress me: Marie St. Pierre from Montreal, Quebec.
What’s on my feet: Free People shoes.
Guiltiest pleasure: Lipstick!
Biggest influencers: My family.
What I’m known best for: Within my profession, it’s cooler combinations and executing a long-lasting, detailed haircut. Personally? I’m known for being calm.
Why hair? As an artist at heart, to be able to paint, carve, and create on live models — and build a career — is amazing.
Oddest job: Picking gum off church pews.
“I’ve Made It” moment: As soon as I think I’ve made it, I look up and see so much more I want to do.
If not hair: Owning businesses and motivational speaking…but, fortunately, I get to do that in my current career as well.
The hair I never want to see again: Waterfall bangs.
This hairstyle/color will never bore me: Redheads of any shade.
Biggest misconception about hairdressers: That we are reckless.
Best advice ever: Finish what you’ve started.
Salon Play List: Dance, rock, jazz…depends on the weather.
I’ll cry without: My tail comb. It does everything but cut.
