Super Bowl XLIX: A Hair-Raising Game

The game was hair-raising and so was the show, as megastar singer, Katy Perry, rocked perfectly pulled-back hair during her energetic 12-minute half-time set at Super Bowl XLIX.  According to her stylist, “Katy specifically asked for the perkiest ponytail you’ve ever seen;” which he gave her (extensions and all), so she had plenty of movement to tumble around her shoulders during the hair-whipping rendition of I Kissed A Girl. To get the look, simply pull hair back into a high pony, smoothing flyaways with K-PAK Color Therapy Dry Oil Spray, and wrapping a tendril around the base to hide any elastics, securing with a discreet bobby pin or two. Next, curl sections of hair with a large-barrel iron, setting the waves with plenty of Flip Turn Volumizing Finishing Spray.

Kicking off the thrilling day was a star-studded performance of our national anthem by Broadway icon, Idina Menzel, who gamely belted her heart out to serious applause. We thought she deserved a standing O for perfect hair, too, which she sported in loose, cascading tendrils that are easy to score with JoiWhip Firm Hold Design Foam—the only “holding” allowed in the game.

The day? A win-win in our book.
