Pride

NOT JUST DURING PRIDE MONTH

Joico truly appreciates our LGBTQ+ community – from within our own ranks to our Joico Artists and our Joi-fans out there – we love our inclusive rainbow of joi-ful fanatics and that’s why we strive to show that support and love throughout the year. PRIDE Month is very important, but it’s not the end. Take a look at how Joico has supported the LGBTQ+ community this PRIDE Month, and how we’re poised to keep doing so for the rest of the year and beyond!

APLA Health NOLP Support

Joico is committed to supporting LGBTQ+ voices at large; in our professional hairstylist community, there are so many gay, lesbian and queer voices that share their passion and talent for making others look and feel good. We are one in our Joico family. …But being a Southern California-born brand, we also wanted to support the local LGBTQ+ community right here in greater LA. In 2022 Joico started a relationship with AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA Health) and began giving much needed personal hygiene products to APLA Health’s Necessities of Life Program (NOLP). Hygiene products are much needed items and can be some of the most expense to procure for non-profit organizations like APLA. APLA Health’s NOLP supports people living with HIV/AIDS through 10 locations throughout Los Angeles County.

If you want to learn more or see what you can do, visit APLAhealth.org. As a brand we’re committed to donating these much-needed products to APLA Health every year to help the families and individuals that APLA Health NOLP serves. In 2022 the program reached 1,729 clients and as of Nov. 30, 2023 the program has already served 1,957 (projecting +2,000 by EOY). In 2022 Joico donated 1,320 sets from our lines of top-performing shampoo + conditioners, and this year (2023) Joico donated 1,824 shampoo & conditioner sets. Committed to celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ+ community, Joico will continue to donate to APLA NOLP.

“I celebrate all year long by having a declared safe-space chair at the salon; attending local and world drag events that support artists; educating my clients about who I am and how I grew up; preaching acceptance; and living my authentic self. Providing that safe space is important to me, as I have a lot of LGBTQIA+ clients, especially teens.”
