Haircolor Winners at the Oscars 2015

That was the theme of this year’s Academy Awards, where everyone’s favorite gilded trophy presided over a theater filled with beautiful, intentional, committed hair color, ranging from dimensional blonde highlights to remarkably cool brunettes. Our very own winner-of-a-colorist, celebrity pro, Denis de Souza, was there to report on the looks that are about to take the salon world by storm. “It’s the biggest style night of the year,” says Denis, “and hair color has to be perfection.” The envelope, please…

Naomi Watts

You’ll get whiplash from this head-turning blonde…
Winner! Naomi Watts

Apply a full head of fine highlights using the lightener formula. Process and remove. Apply the Base Breaker to the regrowth area to “smudge” and blend the roots. Remove and gloss roots to ends with the Chrome formula for shine.

Imitation of this brunette is the sincerest form of flattery…
Winner! Felicity Jones

With the subtlest of highlights tucked here and there, Felicity’s cool, rich, espresso color is, well, everything.

Scarlett Johansson Oscars 2015

Strong, edgy highlights? You be the judge…
Winner! Scarlett Johannson

Bold honey-combed streaks at the slicked-back crown didn’t undercut the edgy elegance of Scarlett’s contrasting side crop.

In her swag bag: Flip Turn Volumizing Finishing Spray to keep things perfectly stranded.

The formula:
Natural level:
Joico Cream Lightener + 20 Volume Veroxide
Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome ½ Clear + ½ V9 Platinum + 2 oz Chrome Activator

The look that won’t be gone for a long time, girl: toffee streaks
Winner! Laura Dern

Sexy, youthful, and lively are the name of the game in Laura’s honey-and-toffee-toned confection…a balanced combo of natural highlights and lowlights that show off her carefree coif.
