Color Wave Step-by-Step by Philip Ring
For this look I pre lightened with Joico VeroLight powder lightener + 40 Volume Veroxide.
Once the hair was light enough, I rinsed, and dried it. Then I applied a level 9 silver toner formula. I recommend really overmixing to make sure you can apply quickly as well as have product to emulsify through. I let that process for 20 minutes and rinsed and treated with K-PAK Deep Penetrating Reconstructor.
Level 9 Silver Toner formula:
Joico Vero K-PAK TSB (Toner Silver Blonde) 1 1/2 oz. + .15 oz. 1N + 2 oz. of 5 Volume Veroxide.
Process for 20 minutes.
Root shade color was Color Intensity Black Pearl
Light Silver color was 1 part Color Intensity Titanium 3 parts K-PAK Conditioner
Yellow color was Color Intensity Yellow
I did all of the root shading first, and colored all of the mids and ends under the tip of the ears with the Titanium formula.
Above the ears on the left, I started applying the root color with the Black Pearl, then I started adding the Yellow formula and then back to the Titanium formula. Each of the following sections, I combined all into that one, so that I could be sure that the Yellow was all in one spot.
Repeat the same exact application for the right side, as well as the rings.
4 sections: 1) the bottom of the hair, 2) the left side, 3) the right side, and 4) the fringe (bangs)
The plastic sheets in place of foils were EMBEE MECHE.
Fire & Ice Step-by-Step By Philip Ring
The client had pre lightened hair as well as regrowth. Use Joico LumiShine 4VV with 10 volume on all of the roots to build depth.
Rinse and section hair out in a star pattern on top and leave the bottom free.
Bottom Formula: Sapphire Blue to Mermaid Blue to Light Purple.
Top (Star Pattern) Formula: Ruby Red melting to Fiery Coral and then to Yellow.
Start each section of the Intensity shades color melt by doing the base first, then apply the second color through the mid strands, really saturating and massaging it into the hair as well as where the first two colors connect making sure to melt them together to create a soft blend. Then, add the final color to the ends and really saturate again and massage that color in.
Tip: Saturating the hair does two things, Ii allows the colors to grab evenly as well as it allows you to lay each section on top of the previous without worrying that the colors are going to stain each other.

Starting Level- 2” virgin Level 2. From line of demarcation to ends- Level 1 previously colored.
Prelighten with Vero K-PAK Creme Lightener, equal parts 20 Vol. Veroxide.
Target level: Level 7/8 Yellow/Orange
1: Section hair from forehead to nape, and from apex to just behind the ears. Section the front two sections out of the way.
2: Starting at the nape take 1/4” horizontal/diagonal partings.
3: Lay a long foil under first section. (I used Beth Minardi Signature foils)
4: Apply lightener 3-4” from scalp, being sure to blend the line by making peaks and valleys. Where you begin your application of lightener will vary based on the length of hair. If the hair is shorter, leave 1-2” of new growth exposed, or if you would like a more dramatic look.
5: Continue working up the back of the head until you run out of hair placing a foil between each section.
6: Continue working in front of the ears with the same sectioning. 1/4” horizontal/diagonal partings. Depending on desired end result, lightener may be applied closer to the scalp around the face.
7: Let process 45-60 minutes, or until you have reached desired level of lightness.
Remove foils, shampoo with K-PAK Color Therapy Shampoo, K-PAK Cuticle Sealer, K-PAK Deep Penetrating Reconstructor, K-PAK Intense Hydrator. If the lightener lifted uneven, color balance before proceeding. Blow dry the hair 100% dry.
Formula for end result shade:
Base color: Vero K-Pak Chrome 1/3 N1, 1/3 V4, 1/3 RB + 2 parts Vero K-Pak Chrome Activator
Intensity Formula 1: 1/2 Magenta + 1/2 Ruby Red
Intensity Formula 2: Sapphire Blue
Intensity Formula 3: Amethyst Purple
1: Section the hair from forehead to nape, and apex to behind the ears.
2: Apply exaggerated retouch to the virgin hair.
3: Once you have applied the retouch to the entire head, section the hair from forehead to nape.
4: Your first parting will be 1/4”-1/2” vertical/diagonal partings beginning below the occipital bone. Apply formula 1. Mirror your next parting on the opposite side. Apply formula 1. Your partings should resemble an inverted V. I work left to right to maintain symmetry.
5: Mimicking your first parting, take a 1/4”-1/2” parting and apply formula 2. Lay each section on top of the previous gently.
6: Mimicking your previous parting, take a 1/4”-1/2” parting and apply formula 3.
7: Continue working up the back of the head, working left to right to maintain symmetry alternating formula 1, formula 2 and formula 3.
8: Once you reach the section in front of the ears, begin at the ear, taking a 1/4”-1/2” diagonal back section, apply formula 1. Continue the same sectioning up the head alternating formula 1, formula 2, and formula 3.

PINK RUSH by Joico Artist Ashley Spangenberg
Base: Joico Vero K-PAK Color 4VR + 20-volume developer
Accents: Joico Vero K-PAK Color Intensity Hot Pink and Soft Pink
The model began as a natural Level 5 with regrowth and faded mauve and blonde highlights. After prelightening, Ashley applied the base shade to the new growth for a modern, “rooty” effect, then applied the two pink shades in alternating sections-horizontal in back and vertical in front around the face. Some sections were solid and some were blends of the two pink shades, Hot Pink at the base melting into the pastel Soft Pink. “I was trying to interpret a sunkissed effect using shades of pink,” Ashley explains, “so I wanted the hair below the occipital to be lighter.”
Joey Cook’s Finale Formula:
Color Intensity Orchid at the base a full tube of Color Intensity Clear and 4 drops of Color Intensity Indigo for the mid section.
It melts into an even mix of Color Intensity Red and Magenta.
Joey Cook Pastel Formula
Joico Creme Lightener + 30 vol. on roots. Color Intensity Orchid was used on her roots, and 3 drops of Color Intensity Indigo were mixed with clear for the ends. Process for 20 minutes. Shampooed and conditioned with Color Therapy Shampoo with a 5-minute treatment with K-PAK RevitaLuxe.
