Beverly Moody of Progressions Designs in Bluff City, TN, made 14-year old Maddie was the prettiest girl in the room at her first formal dance. The young client requested vintage-inspired finger-waves, which Beverly—who is also a Joico educator—modernized with a soft, matte texture.

Beverly first curled one inch sections in the same direction throughout the head. She misted each section with Joico Power Spray Fast-Drying Hairspray, and spiral wrapped the hair around the outside of a ¾-inch Marcel iron.

Once the hair was curled and cool, she brushed through with a Denman brush, concentrating on the front section where the finger-wave effect would be most prominent. She then separated the front section from the rest of the hair across the top of the head from ear to ear. She created a deep side part, placed Joico Matte Grip Texture Crème on her fingertips and applied it to the fringe to form the finger-wave. Then she rolled the back sections into large, random barrel curls and pinned them in place, finishing with another light application of Power Spray.
