ANNOUNCING JOICO’S NEW INTERNATIONAL CREATIVE DIRECTOR: JEREMY DAVIES-BARBALA

LOS ANGELES (June 2 2015) – After an extensive search, the much-anticipated revelation of who will be the new driving force to guide Joico’s professional cutting and hairstyling vision has been announced. At a global company update for Joico held on June 2nd, Jeremy Davies-Barbala was announced as Joico’s new International Creative Director.

With a background from the school of Sassoon, which Jeremy joined in 2002 later becoming Creative Director for both UK and US staff training programs, he also lead their Sloane Street, London flagship salon, until in 2010 coming stateside to be at the forefront of creative direction for Sassoon academies and salons. Apart from London, Jeremy has developed a strong client base in Los Angeles, and has created looks for icons like fashion designer Mary Quant and cult actress Rose McGowan, among others.

Upon meeting Jeremy for the first time, Sr. Director of Global New Product Strategy and Education, Angelia Polsinelli had this to say: “After our first meeting with Jeremy we knew he was right for Joico! He possesses a rare blend of hair and design mastery with an inherent love of the ‘team’ mentality.”

Excited about his move to Joico, Jeremy loves the brand’s history in creating innovative products and product technologies, and says about his anticipated propelling future with the brand: My vision for Joico is continue to be the innovator that Joico has been for so many years in its products. I also want to have the best education that is consistent and speaks to all levels of hairdressers, such that they are the first choice for young professionals and the essential tool for industry veterans and salon owners to build their clientele and grow their business. I want Joico to be an inspiration and leader in all three areas: product innovation, education, and client-building.

The coveted role, titled “International Creative Director,” evokes perfectly what the position is and will continue to be. It has evolved from one that not only develops and teaches the techniques behind creative elements in Joico education but also encompasses the creative vision as a whole that is Joico throughout all facets. From new product development and R&D, to communications and market strategies, as well as education and mentorship – they will all together create, as well as execute and propel the Joico vision forward, toward new innovations in technology, user-experience (that includes both the professional and consumer) and of course education.
