SPOTLIGHT ON: CHAD TAYLOR, Joico Guest Artist, Vancouver, Canada
Go backstage at any New York or Paris Fashion Week and you’ll likely see Joico Artistic Team Member, Chad Taylor, right in the middle of the styling frenzy. That’s because this uber-talented Canadian pro (wait ’til you hear how he got into the business) is frequently tapped to do the ‘dos at some of the most prestigious runway shows here and abroad. A multi award winner and co-owner of Vancouver B.C.’s Moods Salon, Chad’s known as a painterly artist, creating color that’s dramatic and fashion forward — a treat for his many Instagram followers.

On my nightstand: My Apple devices for late night inspiration moments, a small can of Perrier, and a few random bobby pins of course.
I’ll cry if I’m out of…Joico Hair Shake and Flip Turn
What I’m eating when no one’s looking: I’m a bit of a sugar fiend behind closed doors.
If any designer (or store) could dress me… Hedi Slimane or Raf Simons
What’s on my feet: Something black…ideally comfortable but I’m willing to suffer for fashion.
Can’t live without: Joico Hair Shake, my cutting shears and a daily dose of Green Juice.
My influencers: I’ve been fortunate to work with many or our industry’s icons like Vivienne MacKinder, Damien Carney, Guido Paulo, Orlando Pita and Laurent Philippon.
Guiltiest pleasure: TV show Riverdale (filmed in Vancouver 🙂 )
Why hair? I was studying Biology at university and had the best haircut of my life at Moods Hair Salon (the salon I’m now an owner of), and never left!!
What I’m known best for: Precision cutting
Oddest job: Science Lab Assistant in High school
If not hair… What???? Life without Hair???
The hair I never want to see again: Damaged hair – “Healthy hair is always on trend!!”
This hairstyle/color will never bore me: Any sort of geometric cut where you can put all of your skills to use.
Best advice ever: Be open to new opportunities. You never know what connections you will make by trying new things.
I’ve made it” moment: Working backstage at an Alexander McQueen show Fall 2009.
