JOICO CELEBRITY COLORIST GEORGE PAPANIKOLAS CREATES THE SEASON'S HOTTEST COLOR TREND
August 9th, 2010
Actress Kelli Garner of ABC's My Generation has sported many shades of hair color in past years—including spicy cinnamon and even deep amethyst. For her latest hair color transformation, she turned to Joico Celebrity Colorist George Papanikolas."Kelli is a natural light blonde," George reveals, "and she wanted a deeper, richer blonde shade." Together, they decided to create one of today's hottest hair color looks—a rooty, ombré effect that starts off deeper at the roots and then morphs into a mélange of dark and light tones, ending with light, almost bleached out ends. "It’s very beachy," comments George, who is known throughout Hollywood for his sun-kissed blonding techniques, adding, "You could call it very 'Gisele!'"
To create the look, George started by deepening Kelli's Level 8 blonde base at the roots and in the nape area with equal parts of Joico Vero K-PAK Chrome G6/Sandalwood/Light Golden Brown and N6/Caramel/Light Brown. Then, using the same formula, he scattered some lowlights on random, midshaft sections. Finally, he hand painted a few face-framing highlights with Joico Vero K-PAK Crème Lightener with 40-volume developer. Kelli's ends remained blonde.
Vero K-PAK Chrome is ideal for lowlights and tint-backs, according to George, because the ammonia-free demi-permanent hair color is exceedingly gentle on bleached and color-treated strands. What's more, because it contains Joico’s exclusive Quadramine Complex, Vero K-PAK Chrome offers a unique reconditioning component that leaves hair strong and healthy. And regular home care with Joico's award-winning K-PAK Deep Penetrating Reconstructor, which also contains Quadramine Complex, will keep hair in optimum condition until the next color transformation!
