Sue Pemberton
Hair Color Artistic Consultant
Sue began her career in the hair industry in the United Kingdom more than 25 years ago. She moved to the U.S. in 1984 and, since 1990, has traveled around the world exclusively for JOICO INTERNATIONAL as the VeroColor Artistic Director, to share color creativity and technical skills with professional colorists and stylists. Sue facilitates shows, photo shoots, classes and training seminars. Her work has been published in countless industry magazines worldwide. In 2004, she placed as a finalist in the color category at North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) and followed the honor by placing as a finalist once again in 2005. "I have a passion for haircolor because it is a way to achieve instant gratification when enhancing a client's individual beauty," she says. "By combining the latest trends and colors with original techniques, I can create strong and vivid, but beautiful, fashionable looks. I like to challenge myself with the vibrant cycle of fashion and I am always looking for ways to be more creative and to produce innovative hair color."
Sue's ability to create new and exciting techniques is second to none and her smooth, relaxed delivery is uplifting and a pleasure to watch. Sue loves to share them with others because she greatly respects her peers and feels that the Stylist role in society is often overlooked. She also understands the importance of continuous education "because we are always learning". One of Sue's fortes in teaching is displaying color technique and hair color theory as simple and basic. This technique makes learning about color fun and exciting, rather than intimidating.
Sue demonstrates a great deal of passion and pride in her profession and likes to motivate others through her classes and platform work, "as every head of hair is a canvas on which a work of art can be created". To this end, in her capacity as Joico Laboratories, Inc. VeroColor Artistic Director, she educates all levels of stylists from the beginner to the master. Whether Sue is in the salon, on stage or on the other side of the world, her vision and values reflect three things: suitability, adaptability and distinction.
