Perfect Look Salon
We practice Green behavior by having flow moderators on all our sinks and toilets. We also try to be careful about color waste by using half batches. If or when we have left over color we put it into the trash can instead of down the sink to keep our water ways cleaner. We also try to reuse our plastic processing caps by running them through the washer as many times as possible.

Here's how I am being greener! Instead of shredding our used client day sheets, we cut them in quarters and use the clean back sides for note and scrap paper. Once both sides are used, the paper goes into the paper recycling bin. We can't yet go paper-free at our salon yet, but we CAN greatly reduce our use of paper. And of course we love the wind power energy offset in producing aerosol products!! Thank you Joico!
Linden & Company Salon
Our salon, Linden & Company Salon (Eureka, CA) has been making efforts to reduce our waste. We measure out just what we need for each client and actually keep track of the usage so that we can reduce chemical waste. All that we can recycle we can and with those recyclables we collect we purchase Joico products and donate baskets to organizations such as Hospice, Look Good Feel Better, The Oil Spill project and disaster relief funds. We are year round sponsors of Locks of Love. With our hair donations, we never charge for their cuts and what we can't use we send to the efforts to clean the water. Finally, and my favorite green waste less program is buying Joico Gallons over tiny bottles. Customers actually love the big bottles and the salon does too!

It started with reusing... Even if it was pulling an old piece of furniture off the side of the road and making it new again. Then it went on to recycling plastic bottles, plastic bags, which is not curbside so I would save a lot of plastic before I drove to the site as to justify the gas usage. Then that followed cardboard... Gotta save our trees too! So now we have become aware of our water waste as well and I am using natural cleaners made up of vinegar/baking soda in my recycled plastic spray bottles. I love this big beautiful planet and pray that we are all making a difference as we recycle....one green step at a time! Peace!

Going green is very important. I switched all the bills I can to electronic. I buy the energy saving light bulbs. We recycle. We send our old shoes to school to be used on playgrounds. We buy safe cleansers. Going green is essential and so is buying USA. Save the world - everyone must help!!!

I have been trying to implement some "green" ideas into our salon. By reusing our bags, or bringing in a reusable bag to get a discount. Also we make sure to turn all the breakers off at night so we save electricity. Also stylists that are not at their stations unplug their appliances. Also we recycle all paper, plastic, and glass (etc) that we use in the salon or break room. Our back bar only uses large liters to cut down on packaging and waste. I also try to suggest products that use recycled packaging. We also re-use packaging and boxes that our shipments come in.

I am a hairstyling student. We reuse foil after we have practiced different techniques and patterns by simply wiping it clean. We wash towels and laundry in cold water, we recycle suitable hair by saving it for strand tests. When cleaning we try to aviod using paper towels and use cloth rags instead. Our school also encourages recycling drink bottles.
Healthy Tan Salon
I am the owner of a salon and we take pride in recycling anything and everything there is to recycle. From the Mystic Tanning cartridges (which there are a lot of), hair product containers, even the wooden stir sticks we use for our coffee. We only use cold water to wash our linens, and we make sure we have full loads everytime to save energy. Not only does this save our company money, but it saves our planet!

I use green beauty products like Joico and always check ingredients to make sure they are good for my hair and the planet. I never use hair spray, and try to encourage others to use beauty products that are great for the planet.
Megan Lynn
I no longer throw any of our shampoo, conditioner or styling products in the trash. We save and recycle these items once a month.
