Joico Artist Damien Carney shares his 2012 New Year Faves.

Damien Carney

1. What did you do this New Year's and what's going in 2012 for you?

I escaped! I like the un-conventional when it comes to Christmas/New Year's, kind of like my hair-world, not the norm. I went off to a great Safari and mixed it up with nature and animals. ...Away from all things in the modern city. No clock, no itinerary, nothing to dictate what I should be doing -Bliss!

I have a very busy 2012 schedule already booked. I'll be at the ISSE show, LB and much more! Doing more DC events, doing more DC webinars... I'm right into photography at the moment. I've been shooting, shooting, shooting! I love doing hair so anything to do with hair, any hair... Love what I did this year, last year, the year before. Wouldn't change a thing! LOL!

2. How do you survive the winter cold (do you go somewhere warmer, do you spend a lot of time at home with some eggnog, do you visit with friends and family... whatever you like)?

I hate Eggnog - yuck!!! Any climate suits me. Just 'gotta' wrap up or strip off. I love extremes. Be it hot or cold that's me - nothing in between. It's who I'm "chilling" with and what we're doing that counts. The weather is secondary.

3. And what's your best Joico product recommendation for hair during this time and why?

Smooth Cure - because it works brilliantly, the hair feels amazing: truly a small, powerful range of products that I can do anything with, and on any hair. LOVE, LOVE! Everyone should have a bit of Smooth Cure -life's much better!! LOL

1. What did you do this New Year's and what's going in 2012 for you?

I love traveling, so though I don't always do it, I'm in love with the idea of being somewhere new and different, experience a different culture every new year's.

After spending Christmas with family I then headed off to surround myself with good friends and actually a bit of work on London for New Year's. We brought in the New Year at Cipriani's and then went to the clubs in Soho after. I decided to stay a few extra days in London and saw a show, a hit the hopping sales at Harrods and Harvey Nichols, so it was a good time. Originally I was planning on the Caribbean - next year! Now it's time to get 2012 started right with plenty of work! From more work in New York that I am very excited about, to my continued work with clients in LA and travel for Joico shows and classes - can't wait!

2. How do you survive the winter cold (do you go somewhere warmer, do you spend a lot of time at home with some eggnog, do you visit with friends and family... whatever you like)?

I love going somewhere warm and fun, but with my crazy work schedule, and over-active social life, I've come to the realization that I also need some relaxing down time, so a few day's in Anguilla this year will force me to relax.

3. And what's your best Joico product recommendation for hair during this time and why?

Perfect for my Miami and Anguilla getaways, I'll be sure to pack Joico's Smooth Cure to control any frizz in these tropical climates!

1. What did you do this New Year's and what's going in 2012 for you?

Other than celebrating the evening quietly with dear friends, I did one of my favorite traditions this new year's - I spent a relaxing time drinking great champagne while submerged in a fragrant bubble bath.

I am so excited about 2012. I will be preparing for my national tour for Minardi Luxury Color Care and Joico. I look forward to this with great joy and anticipation this year.

2. How do you survive the winter cold (do you go somewhere warmer, do you spend a lot of time at home with some eggnog, do you visit with friends and family... whatever you like)?

I love wrapping up in layers of cashmere and finishing my gym workout with a massage ans sauna... I am a chicken, I hate the cold.

3. And what's your best Joico product recommendation for hair during this time and why?
