Q. What does "PTC" stand for when describing the iron's heaters?
A. Positive Temperature Co-efficient - PTC heating elements are small ceramic stones with self temperature limiting characteristics. PTC stones have fast heating response times and plateau once the pre-defined temperature is reached. PTC heaters are more safe that non PTC as they do not allow the plates to become excessively hot, for instance, if the iron is left on for long periods of time.
Q. Approximately how many times does a full reservoir last to fully straighten an average head of hair?
A. This is dependent on the length and density of hair as well as the technique used to style the hair. People with fine hair will get five or more uses while those with very thick hair may be able to completely flat iron their hair two or three times.
Q. Is it recommended that stylists or consumers utilize any thermal protectant with the VaporIron? (Ex. Silk Result Thermal Smoother or Color Preserve Thermal Spray?)
A. While VaporFuel does contain thermal protectants; users may use Silk Result Thermal Smoother or Color Preserve Thermal Spray if they desire added styling effect with additional protection. There may be a small penetration decrease of VaporFuel's active ingredients on some hair types.
Q. Is the warranty void if someone puts water or another substance in the reservoir?
A. Yes, the warranty is void if any other liquid than VaporFuel, including water, is used to operate the vapor feature. The ONLY exception is a 1:1 vinegar/water mixture to clean the iron. In the warning section of the box insert, it states: "Use this iron only for its intended use, as described in this manual." Under the warranty section, it states: THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER: "...Damage due to misuse...". Therefore, using water or any other substance is misuse of the iron and voids the warranty.
Q. Exactly what are the differences between using a steam iron versus the K-PAK ReconstRx VaporIron?
A. The ReconstRx VaporIron and VaporFuel both offer significant and superior differences over a traditional steam iron. The technologically advanced VaporFuel contains active ingredients, including Quadramine Complex, antioxidants, fatty acids and botanicals that reconstruct the hair with every pass. We have proven claims that hair breakage is decreased by 40% with regular use of the ReconstRx VaporIron as compared to using a leading flat iron.
Q. How do the VaporIron and VaporFuel help reduce color loss?
A. We tested the ReconstRx system with regular shampooing and flat ironing and measured a 33.5% reduction in color loss over the leading professional iron. The reasons for this are a combination of even heat, smooth ceramic/silicone plates, and the ability of the powerful VaporFuel ingredients to repair, protect and moisturize the hair with every pass of the iron. With a healthier cuticle and cortex, color molecules stay in the hair longer. Remember, hair receives all the benefits of K-PAK as you style!
Q. Can the VaporIron be utilized with professional straightening systems?
A. Yes. The VaporFuel option may be turned off when using the iron with straightening systems. Follow manufacturer directions.
Q. What is the recovery time for the K-PAK ReconstRx VaporIron?
A. The recovery time is very fast at approximately 1 to 5 seconds depending on the size of hair sections.
Q. How often should the iron plates be cleaned?
A. The plates should be cleaned on a regular basis as needed using a soft cloth and water. This will prevent product buildup on the plates and avoid hair tugging.
